You might ask yourself what is the difference between a videographer and content creator? Content creation is a fast growing, coveted service that is becoming more and more common. But is it really that different from hiring a videographer? As 6 year content creator, I'll tell you the big differences without all the long verbiage.

Think Movie vs Trailer: Videographers curate a beautiful, long movie with full ceremony and long clips of the reception. Content creators create an impactful, high-lighted trailer version of that; something easier to share on social media. A lot smaller clips that are easier for you to edit to your liking. Some content creators, like myself, will capture full ceremony and edit it as well.
Cameras: Videographers usually use a bigger more high-tech camera; while content creators rely on 4k hand- held camera like an Osmo, or they use the latest iPhone.
Pricing: Videographer price ranges over the years have gone up. In Michigan the current median for videographers is between $2,500 and $4,500 for a full day service. Content creation in Michigan is still relatively new, so prices are tad lower between $1,200 and $2,500.
Turn-around: Videographers depending on the workload will deliver their finished work between 1 to 3 months. Most content creators will deliver all footage within a week. Personally, I like to deliver all my work within 24 hours, that way it gives the couple the opportunity to relive their special day instantly.
In conclusion, some people opt to have both, I've worked with several videographers and photographers and it's easy to work in harmony with one another when there's communication. When it comes to your special day, it really is up to your preference. Whatever you choose, remember to enjoy your day and cherish those memories.
